EXTREME Couponing
To some of you the flyers, the sunday paper inserts and the receipts that print out of grocery story catalinas are just trash, but to extreme couponers they are GOLD. Until recently, I've never used coupons I would instantly toss them out and grunt and moan if I was stuck behind the elderly at the grocery store who had a coupon for practically everything.
Now, I'm that lady at 23 years of age. I heard about the TLC's new show Extreme Couponing and thought these people are CRAZY but I was intrigued...how could it be possible to purchase nearly $300 worth of groceries with $9? I started doing my research and found its not hard at all. Everyone could do this with a little time and organization. There are coupons available for almost every product out there, the trick is to match the manufacturer coupon with the stores deal in their ad along with the stores coupon.
For example, I shop at Giant Eagle; which provides a rewards program. Giant Eagles Rewards program allows customers to upload store coupons onto the card and pair their coupon with the weekly deal along with the manufacturer deal (and for the most part any coupon under $1 is doubled!) You end up getting products for FREE! The best way to go about this is to invest in a binder with baseball card holders: Organize you coupons by products (health, beauty, canned foods, frozen etc.) Then begin the clipping! You probably get coupons in your mail that you pass up and you can buy multiple sunday papers..yes your spending almost $2 per paper, but you're receiving almost $400 worth of coupons!
If you need help finding coupons the Krazy Coupon Lady offers organization tips and print out, coupon findings and deals of the week. Check her out to learn beginner couponing instructions.
Some of you may be thinking well this is great and all for groceries, but what about retail stores? There are so many ways to save money at your favorite stores. Most stores offer rewards programs, email coupons and now if you have a smart phone there is a program called Four Square; which allows you to check into the store on your phone and receive a promotion that you show to the cashier at the point of check out. Pretty sweet huh?
So take 2-3 hours this week and beginning clipping or printing! Organize those coupons and pay attention to the Sunday ads. Let me know how much money you save!

Recessionista
Okay Okay...I know I've been in hiding for quite some time. I tried to find something to blame for it and I can come up with one word: ECONOMY. I haven't been writing or focusing on MLynn because I seriously have not had the time and funds to do so. Then i got thinking...why not use that to my advantage? Why not inform others who are hurting to save money for bills, working extra hours and not finding the time to just enjoy life? So I decided to come back and share what a lot of us have in common..empty wallets but the love for fashion. We can all still look great with the bare minimum and I've found ways to shop in general for less. So lets fight that big bad economy and continue to stay trendy (but also be able to pay off our credit cards and loans).
Looking for some cute spring outfits but your taxes havent come back yet?

“It’s time to get rid of all those painful heels and too-tight dresses.” Michael Kors commented on this spring's trends.

A Silly Fad
For most of us it was Cabbage Patch Kids, Pollypocket, Lip Smackers, Tickle Me Elmo, Furby, TY Beanie Babies, Pogs, Tamagachi/Gigapets but this generation has taken fad to entire new level with...rubber bands? Yes that's right rubber bands- sounds like a fad straight from 1900. The official brand name is Silly Bandz, but like any other hot item there are generic brands like Bandit-O's, Stretchy shapes and so on. These colorful shaped silicon bands have become the hottest commodity ranging from elementary kids to college students. Kids bring them to school and trade them with their friends with the goal of collecting the most.
Silly Bandz are flying off of shelves and parents are on the hunt to find them because lets face it kids just "gotta have 'em." I recently found out about this silly fad from working at A.C Moore, when we first received the product they sat on the shelf for a couple of days untouched. Out of no where swarms of people started coming in for Silly Bandz, parents waited outside before the store opened, and they flew off the shelves within hours of coming off of the stock truck. I was amazed, I didn't understand how a product that has never been advertised could be so popular.
In a world that is so technologically advanced, kids are crazing over something as simple as a rubber band. I think the economy is to blame, if parents cant afford to buy their child the newest ps3 game or mp3 player, they're in luck because this fad is a whopping $5 max per package unless you decide to go generic.

Sneak Peek 1
As I promised, I'll be posting one of my spring line pieces every day up until the fashion show.
#1- Splash Mini
This first one is a simple mini dress; perfect for a summer night out. It has side pockets and will go with any big wasted belt. As the warm weather rolls in bold prints will be a big hit and make a bold statement!

Spring Fashion Show --> April 10th
My new clothing line launches April 10th at the SUNY Cortland 5th Annual Fashion Show. The show is put on by Cortland clubs: BSU, LFL, WOC, CSA, M.O.V.E, HILLEL and SGA. I'd like to thank these groups for giving me the opportunity to show off my first clothing line. Only 10 days left, I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. I'm on my Project Runway get up trying to put finishing touches on the clothes, if only I had Tim Gunn (haha). I'll be posting some of my favorite pieces from my line through out the next week. Stay tuned!
Keeping you trendy,
MLynn
